Ted W. Hoover, 88, of Warriors Mark, died March 31, 2008 at 9:20 a.m. at Epworth Manor, Tyrone.
He was born April 27, 1919 in Sandy Ridge, a son of John and Bertha (Vaughn) Hoover. He was twice married, first to Ardrienne Goss who preceded him in death. He then was married to Virginia Mannino Cerbara in Tyrone on May 15, 1976.
Surviving are his wife, 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, a step-daughter Angela Perez of Pittsburgh, a step-son Robert Cerbara and wife Paula of Philadelphia, a step-grandson, a sister Joy Barber of Houston, Texas and a brother Jack W. Hoover of Tyrone. He was preceded in death by a daughter Nancy Zelenky, 2 brothers and a sister.
Mr. Hoover retired in 1984 from Perma Grain, Karthaus as a flooring technician following 23 years service. He was previously employed at Harbison-Walker Brickyard, Sandy Ridge for 27 years and also worked at his father’s coal mine, Hoover Coal Company, Sandy Ridge.
He was a member of the Warriors Mark United Methodist Church and the Philipsburg American Legion.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving as a sergeant with the 3rd Reconnaissance Squadron in the Philippines.
Ted was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a great personality, was always smiling and was there to help anybody in need. His children and grandchildren enjoyed being around him.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 4, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Peggy Bonsell officiating. Interment will follow at Philipsburg Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
