Tyrone YMCA volunteers met on Thursday, September 19th to stuff approximately 400 solicitation letters to residents and small businesses in the Tyrone area. These letters are making a request for donations to United Way of Blair County. The United Way funds approximately 26 human service agencies throughout the county, including the Tyrone-Snyder Township Public Library, Tyrone Salvation Army, and the Tyrone YMCA.
Assisting the Tyrone YMCA volunteers but not shown in the photograph were Phyllis and Spencer Hauenstein of Bellwood, Maggie Barker of Altoona, and Stoddard ‘Tod’ Martin who is serving as Co-Chair of the Community Division of the campaign.
The co-chairpeople for this year’s local effort are Dr. Kathryn Lewis and Mayor Pat Stoner.
