The Tyrone Regional Arts Council proudly announces an exhibit of works by Tracy and Eric Feather at the Gallery on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Tracy J. Feather was attracted to pottery by the opportunity to create something new using her hands. A self-taught artist, Tracy began “throwing” pots about two years ago. Her use of brown clay results in the cream color seen in each piece with the speckled pattern created by the magnesium that exists in the clay.
One reason Feather enjoys pottery is that, like gardening, clay evolves to become something new; a transformation that is somewhat unpredictable and always exciting.
Eric Feather is a freelance artist and art instructor at the Tyrone Middle/High School.
As a young man growing up in rural Bedford, Eric considered himself fortunate when his parents promoted his art talents at an early age. A graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Feather began as a studio art major then transferred to the school of education.
“I love teaching and it enhanced my skills as an artist,” he said.
The works on display reflect Feather’s interest in regional landscapes and include watercolor, acrylic, ink, and relief printing.
Tracy and Eric Feather have been married for eight years and reside in Imler.
The Gallery has been featuring local artist for eighteen years. Works are available for viewing in the main window 24 hours a day.
This program is sponsored by a grant from the Pa Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, and Tyrone Borough. For additional information contact the ARTS-LINE Office at 684-ART2.
