Hundreds of pet lovers from across the region are expected to take part in this years’ “Pet Fair” as hosted by the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
The event takes place on Sunday, September 14th at Legion Park in Hollidaysburg from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The fair will feature entertainment, information, food and music. Fair organizers say the event will be “fun for the entire family” and include a pet show, silly pet trick competition, obedience demonstrations, breed rescue information booths, an “Ask the Vet” area, a special bake sale of homemade goods, valuable door prizes and silent auction items and chicken barbecue from DelGrosso’s (must be ordered and paid for in advance) that includes 1¼2 chicken, roll, bbq beans and “famous” DelGrosso potato salad.
Other food, such as hot dogs, sloppy joes, chips & soft drinks, will also be available for purchase on site.
New this year will be a special attraction for the kids – a “big, bouncy” inflatable building that children can enter and safely jump around on the air-supported structure.
The event will also involve appearances by local media celebrities such as Steve “Frogman” Kelsey (WFGY radio) and local TV personalities.
Fair goers are encouraged to bring their pets however, dogs must be on leashes or restrained in a comfortable fashion, cats should be in appropriate carriers.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the homeless animals at the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society shelter located at 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd. in Altoona.
The event will be held rain or shine according to CPHS officials.
