Thomas Whren Price, 49, of Johnstown, formerly of Tyrone and who resided with his sister and family in Hollidaysburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003 at Altoona Hospital.
He was born May 9, 1954 in Philipsburg, the son of W. Paul and Adelene (Whren) Price. His father died Aug. 28, 1984.
Surviving is his mother of Tyrone; a sister, Sue Griep and husband Gary, of Hollidaysburg; three children, Matthew James Price and Ashley Nicole Price, both of Carlsbad, Calif., and Daniel Scott Price of Johnstown; mothers of his children, Bonnie Anderson and Diana Price; and a special niece and nephew, Jonathan and Jennifer Papp, with whom he also resided.
He was a member of St. Clement’s Catholic Church in Johnstown.
He was a 1972 graduate of Tyrone Area High School, and a 1976 graduate of Juniata College with a BS in biology/chemistry. Upon graduation from college he attended the Philadelphia College of Podiatry, and the Altoona Hospital’s School of Medical Technology, where he also was eventually employed in the lab, and also served as an instructor of endocrinology and radioisotopes.
In the past, he served as a Fingerprint Analyst for the Federal Bureau of Investigation based in Washington D.C.
For the past approximately 22 years, he held the managerial positions of Laboratory Manager, LIS Systems Manager, and Physician Courier Services Manager while employed at Memorial Hospital of Johnstown.
Funeral mass will be held Monday, Dec. 29 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church with Father Mark Begley, celebrant. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation and celebration of life will be held Sunday at the Feller Memorial Home from 2-6 p.m.
Memorial gifts may be made to St. John’s Catholic Church, 309 Lotz Ave., Lakemont, Pa.
