James H. Dawson Jr.

Mr. James H. Dawson Jr., 50, of 586 Oak St., Tyrone died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003 at 10:40 p.m. at the Altoona Hospital.
He was born in Altoona on Jan. 19, 1953, the son of the late James H. and Anna E. Getz Dawson Sr.
He is survived by two sisters, Judith L. Dawson and Bonnie, wife of John Ramsey, both of Tyrone; two nephews and a niece, Steve Ramsey and wife Amy of Tyrone, Karen, wife of Tim Everhart of Alexandria and Nate Ramsey of Tyrone; two grand-nieces and one grand-nephew, Kaleigh and Seth Everhart and Stephanie Ramsey.
He was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School Class of 1970 and of Williamsport Community College in 1972 with a degree in Business Administration. He retired in 2003 on disability as first shift supervisor for Blair County 911 and formerly from 1988-89 was with Tyrone 911 and from 1989 to 1997 with Hollidaysburg 911, prior to their merger with Blair County.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd.
He was a former chief and held other offices as a life member of the former Citizens Fire Company and he was a member of the Neptune Fire Company. He was a member of the Tyrone Area Community Organization, a life member of the Phoenix Fire Company of Hollidaysburg, was president of the Gallitzen Fire Wardens and Crew Association for which he had received a 25-year service award.
He was also a member of the Bald Eagle and Tyrone Sportsmens Association, a member of the Melcher Hunting Camp and of Tyrone Lodge No. 494 F. & A.M.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
Funeral services for Mr. Dawson will be held Monday, Dec. 29, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Andrew T. Bradley and the Rev. James A. Cannistraci officiating. Interment will follow in Blair Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
