Tyrone-Snyder Library officials are so excited about next week’s full schedule for the opening of the new facility they apparently forgot that Monday was an Easter holiday.
“I just got so excited with everything that is happening that I forgot we had that day off,” said Chuck Banas, the library board’s vice president. “We’ll be open to the general public beginning at noon on Tuesday.”
When the doors are open at the new facility at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and West Tenth Street at noon on Tuesday, the project will have come full circle – from a Logan Avenue location riddled with problems to a new, state-of-the-art facility.
For an entire week after the library is open, officials will offer amnesty for anyone who has overdue books. This gives those residents an opportunity to return materials without needing to pay a late fee.
Banas also supplied The Daily Herald with a corrected copy of the library’s hours. It is open Mondays, Friday and Saturdays from noon – 5 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon – 8 p.m.; Wednesdays from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. It is closed on Sundays.
In addition, the library board officials have decided to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday at 3 p.m. Banas said a number of local dignitaries have been invited to attend.
The week will be capped Saturday evening when the Tyrone community welcomes “The Vogues,” singing sensation Vanessa Campagna and comedian/magician Robbie Wise to the Tyrone High School stage for a fundrasing concerts. Tickets for the event are still available at a number of area retail outlets, as well as from any library board member.
