After months of brainstorming, the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce has hired local media design company Open Door Visions to produce a 32-page full color brochure to market the Tyrone area across the country.
The $6,000 project will produce 20,000 brochures to be distributed through chamber mailings, and brochure racks where other tourism-based marketing pieces are found.
Communities like State College also offer similar brochures, and the Tyrone marketing tool will have like content. In full color, the advertisement will highlight all the area has to offer, from industry to DelGrosso Amusement Park.
“We went with Open Door Visions, because they’re local, and their product and quality is very good, and they believe in what we are doing,” said Chamber Director Rose Black. “The new, convenient sized brochure will be used as an information packet, for relocation, tourism, and can be kept as a reference guide.”
Ray Liddick, of Open Door Visions has worked on 20 or more of community brochures during his time with The Barash Group, an advertising agency based in State College.
“I even worked on the one for Centre County. We will follow the same recipe with this one for Tyrone,” he said.
The next big step in the project is to create the rate sheets and ad sizes. Different size ads will be presented to area businesses to help offset the cost to produce.
“We expect to have it finished at the end of May, and it then takes 10 to 14 days to print,” said Liddick.
“We are looking for advertisers in the area to fund the project. The chamber wants this project to help our area businesses and industries,” Black told The Daily Herald.
The Tyrone Merchants Association brought up the idea themselves as a way to market the merchants of Tyrone. Liddick felt the two efforts could come together.
Different examples of the front cover were submitted to the Chamber, and are being discussed, to choose the right one. All feature beautiful photos of parts of the community, complete with the “Welcome to Tyrone” signs that greet cars arriving into the borough.
“If we can promote the community as a whole, it goes a long way. Working together helps promote the town, the merchants, the YMCA and every other business, church or organization in Tyrone,” said Liddick.
Open Door Visions, on 10th Street in downtown Tyrone, specializes in print and web design, and multi-media. They handle the design of logos, catalogs, websites, and advertising.
They also do dynamic multi-media presentations ranging from business documentaries to TV spots, and wedding videos.
