Yesterday at 9:38 p.m. the Tyrone Police Department was dispatched to the Kwik-Fill on old Route 220 for an armed robbery that had just occurred.
It was reported that a white male, approximately five feet, 10 inches, with a stocky build, wearing an orange ski mask and gray and maroon ski coat had entered the store brandishing what appeared to be a firearm.
The actor ordered the clerk to give him “all the money”. The actor then struck the clerk on the top of his head with the handgun which broke into several pieces. The clerk did sustain head injuries which required medical attention.
The handgun in question was found to be a BB gun. The pieces of the BB gun were collected and are being processed as evidence. The actor fled south on foot on old Route 220 with an unknown amount of change. Officers later found the ski mask and coat along the road in Grazierville along with the rest of the BB gun.
On Saturday, at 11:40 p.m. the Tyrone police were also dispatched to the Kwik-Fill for a burglar alarm at the storage building. Upon the officers’ arrival, a door was found to have been forced open. It was determined that 48 cartons of cigarettes were taken with a total value of $1,473.60. Several leads have come to light in this case, and an arrest is expected to be made in the near future.
The robbery investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information in this case is asked to call the Tyrone Police Department at 684-1365.
