The Tyrone Area School District Renaissance Education Foundation recently announced a group of “stars” for the second marking period of 2004-05.
Tyrone Area Middle and High School teachers nominated fourteen students for recognition due to their outstanding academic achievement, positive attitude or overall improvement.
Taylor Patton, a sixth grader was chosen by Mrs. Conrad, Mr. Stoner and Mrs. Chamberlain. They described Taylor as a Delight to have in class. Her work is top notch and she is always prepared for class. She has a sunny attitude as well and will gladly help when needed. Taylor is a good role model for other students.
Brandon Romano was chosen by his sixth grade teachers Mr. Friday, Mr. Bouslough and Mrs. Myers. Brandon is polite and courteous with teachers and peers. He strives to do his best in all academic areas. He is very conscientious about his schoolwork.
Seventh grader Noelle Wolfe was chosen by Ms. Kehoe.
“Noelle is a very hard worker,” said Kehoe. “She goes above and beyond to get a good grade on assignments. She is a very polite and friendly young lady.”
Cody Savino was chosen by his seventh grade English teacher, Mrs. Pinter.
“Cody has improved his organizational skills. He uses his agenda and asks questions to clarify directions and information,” said Pinter. “I am very proud of Cody’s accomplishments.”
Eighth graders Larry Glace and Dominic Mazzotta were chosen by Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Casillo, Mrs. Cannistraci and Mr. Rhoades. They were impressed by Larry’s extremely friendly, cheerful and positive attitude toward his classes, peers and teachers. His teachers said he has a wonderful impact on the other students and inspires them with his upbeat personality.
Dominic is extremely conscientious in class, according to his teachers. He works hard on all activities. He also works well with his peers. Overall, he is very cooperative, helpful, friendly and a pleasure to have in class.
Tenth grader Theresa Ulrich received praise from biology teacher Mr. Nale.
“Theresa worked to improve her grade two levels this marking period,” said Nale. “She is more attentive in class and raised her overall GPA.”
Freshman Ashley Dunne was commended by science teacher, Mrs. Teresa Myers.
“Ashley has improved greatly in her academic work. She has a positive attitude and is a pleasure to have in class,” Myers said.
Paige Stott was selected by her tenth grade English teacher, Miss Stom, who said, “Paige is a conscientious student who always participates in class. She has a pleasant personality and her work is always phenomenal.”
Tenth grader Alexis Pazmino was chosen by social studies teacher, Mr. Cammarata, who is impressed with her outstanding academic work in civics class and her involvement in the Mock Election held in the fall.
“Alexis dedicated a great deal of her own time to do research, create campaign materials, hang signs and register students to vote. She deserves a great deal of credit for helping to make the mock election a success,” said Cammarata.
Junior Paige Black was nominated by her French teacher, Madame Smith, who said, “Paige possesses and amazing intellect. She approaches each assignment with the same seriousness of purpose and thoughtfulness.
“Paige is very dedicated, a great inspiration to her teacher and classmates.”
Jenna Simondale was chosen by her eleventh grade math teacher, Mrs. McNelis.
“Jenna worked hard the second marking period and raised her grade two grade levels in GTA II,” said McNelis.
Senior Alicia Rodriguez was chosen by her chorus director, Mrs. Young.
“Alicia was selected to the Music Educators National Conference All-Eastern Honors Choir,” said Young. “She is the only student in Blair County selected for this elite musical ensemble. Alicia will travel to the Baltimore Convention Center on Sunday, March 6 to participate in the Event.”
Matt Snyder was nominated by English teacher, Mrs. Kramer.
Kramer said, “Matt is extremely dedicated as a student in English class. He completes all assignments on time and even submits papers early.
“He consistently asks the questions he needs to ask in order to be a success.”
Mrs. Kramer also noted she appreciates his good work ethic.
