Michael C. Ellenberger, age 56, of 3054 Hundred Springs Road, Tyrone went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 29, 2006 at 6:35 a.m. at Tyrone Hospital.
He was born July 14, 1949 in Philipsburg, the son of Bert William and Eileen Knarr Ellenberger. On November 24, 1973 at the Grace Baptist Church in Tyrone he was married to Joyce Boyd who survives. Also surviving are two children: Michael II and his fiancee Jessica Hill of LeRoy, NY and Kristi, wife of Jesse Baird of Normal, IL; his mother and three brothers: Bill Ellenberger III and wife Anita of Tyrone; Stephen of RD3, Tyrone and Andy and wife Deborah of RD1 Tyrone and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ellenberger was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School Class of 1967, of Penn State University in December 2004 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocational Education and a Master’s Degree from Penn State in 2005. He was employed as an Electronics Instructor at the Huntingdon County Career and Technology Center in Mill Creek. He served in the US Navy Reserves in Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict. He had received his Eagle Scout award from Troop 27 on January 24, 1964 and had served as a Den Leader of Cub Pack 104 and Scoutmaster of Troop 104, Warriors Mark.
Mr. Ellenberger was a member of the Altoona Bible Church where he was a Sunday School teacher and a former deacon. He enjoyed the beach.
Funeral service for Michael C. Ellenberger will be Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at 3 p.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Stewart W. McClelland of the Altoona Bible Church officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be made in Blair Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
