Gary Lee Miller, 64, of 901 Oak St., Tyrone, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 28 2006 a his residence.
He was born Sept. 20, 1941 in Snyder Township, a son of Joseph Porter and Edna Florence (Faust) Miller.
He is survived by three children: April Kauffman (David); Gary Lee Miller Jr. (Betty); and David Miller (Gina), all of Lewistown.
Six grandchildren: Heather Price, Fantasia Price, Zane Miller, Azshelle Miller, Stacey Ritter and Kolby Kauffman.
He is also survived by his loving companion, Doreen Hand, with whom he resided; two sisters and three brothers: Dorothy Hanna of Altoona; Ronald Miller (Diane); Melvin “Mike” Miller (Peg); Joseph Miller (Peg); Donna Fink (Daniel Smith), all of Tyrone and several nieces and nephews.
He attended the Tyrone Alliance Church, was a member of the Tyrone American Legion No. 281, the Blazing Arrow Hook & Ladder Fire Co. and the Bellwood Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1859.
He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer in 1986 then for 13 years under civil service at Norfolk Navy Base as a Naval tracker until retiring on disability in 1999. He then moved to Tyrone in 2000.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Rev. Tim Miller officiating.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
