Samuel Dale Vaughn, Jr., 56, of Nashville, TN, died Saturday, July 8, 2006 in Nashville, TN.
He was born July 14, 1949 in Altoona, PA the son of Samuel Dale Vaughn, Sr. of Tyrone.
Also surviving are his mother, Elsie M. Noll and step-father Elmer E. Noll of Gatesburg. A sister, Mary Bonchack of State College; half-sister Karen Cupp of Warriors Mark; step-sisters Jean Thorn of Tyrone, Gail Cherry of Roaring Spring, Sherry Riggleman of Tyrone, and half-brothers Eugene Noll of Abbotstown, Ken Noll of Dover and step-brother Robert Gunsallus of Georgia, and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his step-mother Marcella Vaughn.
He served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 29, 1968 to March 3, 1970 with service in the Vietnam Conflict. He was a parachutist and received many awards and medals for his conductive services.
Interment was at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery July 18, 2006 with full military honors with his cousin “Bubb” Vaughn reading from Romans 5:1-11 and Psalm 23.
A memorial service is planned for August 13, 2006 at 1 p.m. at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, State College, PA.
