Miriam W. Hughes, 73, of 111 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
She was born August 31, 1932 in Tyrone, to the late John Emory and Thelma Hileman Wertz. She was a retired elementary school teacher for 28 years having retired from the Bellwood-Antis School District. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carlisle, a graduate of Tyrone Area High School class of 1950 and also graduated from the former Shippensburg State Teachers College class of 1956.
She is survived by her husband Newton S. Hughes of Mt. Holly Springs, two sons: John Robert Young and his wife Susan of Santa Clarita, Ca. and Kevin Grey Young of Shippensburg; four step-sons: Robert P. Hughes of Carlisle, Thomas J. of Baltimore Md., Richard A. of Mt. Holly Springs and Kenneth J. of Thorofare, NJ; a step-daughter, Linda M. Myers of Marlton, NJ; her former husband, George F. Young of Santa Anna, Ca.; eight step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 10 a.m. in the Hollinger Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs with Mrs. Deborah Ann Madden officiating.
There will be a viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and also Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
