The Tyrone swim teams ran into tough competition against Hollidaysburg at the Tyrone pool on Wednesday evening. The Hollidaysburg boys improved to 12-2 with a convincing 103-67 rout over the Eagle boys swimmers, while the once defeated Lady Tigers (13-1) rolled over the Tyrone girls 112-54.
The highlight of the meet for the Golden Eagles was a new school record in the boys 200 medley relay. The team of Ethan Nulton, Allen Hosko, Dustin Elder and Ian McGregor set the new mark at 1:50.01, in a second place finish in the event.
Nulton also was the Eagles’ only double winner in individual events winning both the 200 IM and 100 backstroke. Dustin Elder won the 500 freestyle for Tyrone, who fell to 10-5 on the season with a home meet against Central Cambria on Monday completing the season.
Brittany Day provided the only victory on the girls side for Tyrone (4-9-1), with a win in the 500 freestyle.
The Hollidaysburg girls showed their strength by sweeping all three places in four events, and adding first and either second or third in four others.
