First Assembly of God Church has many spring events planned for the upcoming months.
The Spring Missions Convention will be held April 13-16.
First Assembly is a strong missions church, and to keep the missions vision alive, the church hosts a yearly spring convention and a yearly fall emphasis.
Also, throughout the year, several missionaries visit the church to speak to the congregation and community throughout the year.
The church currently supports 35 foreign and two home missionaries, as well as The American Indian Bible College, Christian Training Network, The Hillcrest Children’s’ Home, Valley Forge College, the Retired Missionary Fund and the Assemblies of God Emergency Relief Fund.
Last year, First Assembly gave over $24,000 to foreign missions and over $32,000 total to World Ministries Giving.
The theme of this year’s spring convention is “Everywhere”, based on Acts 1:8.
There will be five special missions speakers during the week. The speakers will represent the mission fields of Bulgaria, Greece, South Africa and the Baltic States.
Service times are Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Special services will be held Monday and Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. with the missions banquet being held Wednesday evening at 6 p.m.
On Sunday morning, April 13, the special speaker will be Rev. David Crosby, son of former pastor of First Assembly, Rev. Harold Crosby. Rev. David Crosby is the Secretary/Treasurer of the Pennsylvania Delaware District Council of the Assemblies of God and is also the district’s Foreign Missions Director.
On Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. the speaker will be Rev. Garry Menke. Garry and his wife Sheryl have completed missionary tours in Tonga, South Pacific. Their new assignment will take them to Sofia, Bulgaria.
Rev. Tony Sebastian will be the guest speaker Monday evening. He and his wife Jamie are newly appointed missionaries going tot he field for the first time. They will be working in Greece.
Rev. Charles Hasselbring will speak on Tuesday evening. Along with his wife, Tammy, he is a veteran missionary working in South Africa.
Finally, on Wednesday, April 16 at 6 p.m. the church will host their Spring Missions Banquet. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish to share.
The banquet speaker will be Rev. Terrance Hall. He and his wife Jill are missionaries to Russia, serving currently in the Baltic States.
Pastor Glunt at First Assembly welcomes everyone who desires to come and hear any or all of these speakers.
The public is invited to attend these special convention services.
Also at the end of the month, another Olde Fashioned Hymn Sings is scheduled on April 27 at 6:30 p.m.
Participating in the hymn sing will be some of the best in local gospel music. Everyone is invited to join in the festivities.
In May, the church’s 10:30 a.m. worship service will be broadcast live over WTRN radio.
Mother’s will receive special recognition on May 11. In honor of Mother’s Day, all the mothers in attendance will be honored with a special gift.
In return, on Father’s Day, June 15, all the dads present in church will receive a gift also.
On June 22 at 6:30 p.m. there will be a baptismal service for those wishing to be baptized in water. First Assembly members who wish to participate in this special event should contact Pastor Glunt.
Finally, he church will once again host its Sunday night fellowships.
The fellowship night is scheduled for the first Sunday of the month, immediately following Sunday evening service.
A new addition to the First Assembly lineup of events is “Friendship Dinners” which will be held after the morning service on the fifth Sunday’s of the month, when there is one.
The Friendship Dinners will occur four times a year and are being promoted to encourage fellowship and to allow a time for people to come to know others who attend the church.
Everyone is invited to come and make a friend.
