Thomas J. “June” Kovac, Jr., 74, of Bellwood died Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.
He was born December 4, 1933 in Blandburg, a son of the late Thomas J., Sr. and Minnie (Williams) Kovac. He married Jean I. Manspeaker on April 28, 1956 in Altoona. She died August 26, 1997.
Surviving are sons: Thomas Zeak of Laurel, DE; James Kovac, Terry Kovac and Tim Kovac, all of Bellwood; daughter: Deborah Hutton of Cresson; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother: Sylvester Kovac of Bellwood and a sister: Christina Klingler of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by sisters: Mary Andrews, Marjorie Hardy and Thomasina Nagle.
Mr. Kovac was previously employed at Blair Clay, Altoona and the Ford Motor Co., Buffalo, NY. He retired in 1996 as a warehouse forklift operator at DelGrosso Foods, Inc., Tipton.
Mr. Kovac was a member of Faith Bible Church, Antis Township. He was a member of the F.O.E., Bellwood and the Bellwood Sportsmans.
June enjoyed all sports, especially baseball and was a former coach for Bellwood Little League, Teener League and Federation Baseball League. He was a Steeler and PSU football fan. June enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Tuesday senior men’s bowling league at Splinters.
Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Ghanayem officiating.
Interment at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Central Pa., Olde Liberty Sq. 4813, Jonestown Rd. Harrisburg, Pa. 17109-1700.
