Richard Francis Egge, age 62, of New York City, and a native of Birmingham, died Tuesday, September 9, 2008 in New York City. He was born March 3, 1946 in Birmingham, the son of the late James Elmore Egge and Mary Leanore Keith Egge, a guest at the New York Veterans Home in Jamaica, Long Island, NY. He was raised by his grandparents, Chester and Ethel Keith of Birmingham. In addition to his mother, he is survived by an uncle and aunt, David and Mary Lou Keith of Birmingham and aunts Theo Keith of Warriors Mark and Lucinda Smith of Mill Hall. Also surviving are several cousins and their families.
He was a graduate of Tyrone High School in 1964 and, prior to retirement, was employed by Meredith Publishing Corp. of New York City. He was a member of the Birmingham Presbyterian Church where, for a number of years, he served as church organist.
Funeral services were under the direction of the Horne and Dannicker Funeral Home, New York City. Interment was made in Rosemont Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at the Birmingham Presbyterian Church on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at 3 p.m. with the Reverend Paul Bottenfield officiating.
