Are your kids tired of summer already? Well, The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau has several events planned for the upcoming months. Two contests are planned for area youth with a chance to win prizes and a day camp is scheduled for August. All the events are centered around safety.
The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau is conducting a safety essay contest for youth ages 16 to 18-years-old. The contest is not limited to children or grandchildren of members, it is open to everyone.
Participants are asked to write an essay on the topic of “Safety…Just Live By It”. The essay should contain a minimum of 200 and a maximum of 300 words. The deadline to enter is July 13.
Prizes will be awarded at the county level with first place taking home $15, second place receiving $10 and third place receiving $5. Only one prize per person.
The winning essay at the county level will be entered in the state contest where the prize is a $50 MasterCard gift card.
The last page of the essay should contain the participant’s name, address, phone number, county, age and parents’ names.
The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau is also offering a safety poster drawing and slogan contest for the younger kids.
The county contest is for any youth 15-years-old and under. Age groups are eight-years-old and under, nine to 12-years-old and 13 to 15 years of age.
This year’s theme is “Safety…Just Live By It”.
Children are asked to submit a drawing on 8 1/2 by 11 inch paper. The picture must be in color and the drawing should include a slogan of 10 words or less, which address the theme.
Prizes will be awarded at the county level in each age group. First place will take home $15, second place receives $10 and third place receives $5.
Any child may enter the contest by completing a drawing at or prior to the county picnic. Deadline for receiving entries is July 13. Posters may be mailed to Blair County Farm Bureau, Attention Sarah Long, RD1 Box 441, Tyrone, PA 16686.
Drawings are to be originals, tracing is not permitted. Also, no collages or three dimensional items will be accepted.
On the back of the drawing please print the child’s name, address, phone number, county, age category and parents’ names.
