The Tyrone Early Childhood Center, located in the Tyrone Elementary School, includes many preschool classrooms serving Tyrone School District children. Several of the classrooms at the Center are funded through the Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts Grant, awarded to Tyrone Area School District last summer. These classes include four half-day K-3 classrooms and one full-day K-4 classroom. In addition to the Pre-K Counts Classrooms, the Center includes Title 1 funded preschools, IU08 classrooms, Head Start and YMCA daycare. The benefits of early education are many. Quality early learning opportunities help our children begin school ready to learn. School readiness promotes student success. Research suggests that by age five, 90 percent of our brains are developed; therefore early learning is very important.
