October, November and December are the months when the flu season really hits hard, and prevention is the most important factor when it comes to fighting illness.
The Centers for Disease Control believes that with cold weather setting in, contagious diseases are spread more easily because larger groups of people start coming together in smaller areas indoors.
A great way to stay ahead of any potential illness is to wash your hands frequently. When access to soap and water isn’t always available, X3 Clean Foaming Hand Sanitizer kills germs in less than 15 seconds when handwashing isn’t possible.

Banas added since last October, MRSA cases have been on the rise across the nation, and cases have since been reported in high schools, colleges and professional sports.
A recent Associated Press article stated that drug-resistant staph bacteria picked up in ordinary community settings are increasingly acquiring “superbug” powers and causing far more serious illnesses than they have in the past.
Now, the germs causing outbreaks in schools, on sports teams and in other social situations are posing a growing threat. A CDC study found that at least 10 percent of cases involving the most common community strain were able to evade the antibiotics typically used to treat them.
The germ is methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA. People can carry it on their skin or in their noses with no symptoms and still infect others.
MRSA mostly causes skin infections. Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow was just hospitalized for a staph infection, his second in recent years, and the team reportedly has had at least six cases in the past three years.
But the germ can be life-threatening if it gets into the bloodstream, lungs or organs. Pneumonia, sinus infections and even “flesh-eating” wounds due to MRSA are on the rise, doctors reported at an infectious diseases conference in Washington.
Banas noted the tragedy at Liberty High School in Kissemmee, Florida where an 18-year-old high school football player died recently after contracting MRSA.
About 95,000 serious infections and 20,000 deaths due to drug-resistant staph bacteria occur in the United States each year.
Banas said Herpes Gladitorium, which is caused by Herpes Type 1, and ring worm have also been a problem for wrestlers. X3 kills both Herpes Gladitorium and ring worm.
Last winter, Banas said Johnstown and Somerset high schools went to Pittsburgh for a wrestling tournament where several wrestlers contracted Herpes Gladitorium, so they couldn’t compete. Because of this problem, schools began using X3 for wrestlers so it would eliminate the Herpes Gladitorium spread, and also help eliminate the spread of ring worm.
Banas said, “One of the big key differences is the alcohol-based products evaporate in 12 seconds. X3 also dries within 12 seconds. It dries. It doesn’t evaporate, so there’s a residual kill time. The wrestlers had that residual kill time so if they did contact that virus from an opponent, it was killed right then and there, and that’s a huge, huge benefit.”
He said X3 is also currently being used in day care centers across the nation where there have already been over 12,000 accidental alcohol overdoses caused by the alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
Banas said that there is a large push to eliminate any form of alcohol-based products from being used in the school systems. Some school districts have actually outlawed the use of such products to be brought into the schools or to be used in the schools by students.
X3 is currently being used in 40 states in the US and in all eight provinces of Canada.
Another great thing is the X3 product can be used on your feet.
“We have found that by using it with football players at Tyrone, two mornings consecutively using a simple wash technique, it eliminates athlete’s foot,” said Banas.
He said you cannot use any alcohol-based products on your feet. Alcohol burns off the epidermal layer of skin and doesn’t heal cracks and fissures, which causes more bacteria to get stuck in them.
Alcohol-based gel hand sanitizers actually become less effective after only the third application. The reason is because alcohol removes natural protective oils and dries out the skin as it evaporates, causing microscopic cracks and crevices. As the skin becomes drier and more damaged, dangerous germs remain trapped within the cracks and fissures.
X3 eliminates the drying, cracking, and splitting of the skin because there is no alcohol in it.
Because X3 is so effective, Banas said the Tyrone football players use it on their hands before practice. After they come off the field and before the team meeting, they use it again, and after they are done showering, they do a washing on their feet.
