Eric G. Bowers is the recipient of Tyrone Hospital’s Extra Mile Employee Award. Tyrone Hospital grants the award on a quarterly basis to an employee who demonstrates exceptional performance.
Mr. Bowers is the System Technician and Network Administrator at Tyrone Hospital. He has been employed at the hospital since August, 2000. His responsibilities include in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of all information technology at Tyrone Hospital including the hospital’s principal information system and a variety ofpersonal computers and peripherals. His accomplishments at Tyrone Hospital are extensive. Highlights of his accomplishments include installation and maintenance of the hospital’s first internet proxy, e-mail, database, and file servers, programming to support new broadband Internet access, customized database reports, creation of a database system for medical transcription, software interface design, and upgrading ofthe entire facility with CAT-5 cable.
Mr. Bowers attended the Computer Learning Network in Altoona where he specialized in Microcomputer Networking and graduated as Valedictorian of his class. He also completed general studies at the Pennsylvania State University.
A native of Tyrone, Mr. Bowers graduated from Tyrone High School where he ranked 11th in the class of 1997 and was a member ofthe National Honor Society.
Prior to joining Tyrone Hospital, Mr. Bowers was a consultant with Knowledge Connections in Pittsburgh.
Recipients of the Extra Mile Employee Award receive a commemorative plaque, an extra paid personal holiday, and a letter of commendation for the hospital’s Chief Exeeutive Officer.
