As we head into our scrimmage with Central on Friday night, I believe that as a team, we are ready to get the season going.
We’re coming together as a team. Everyone is working hard. As a team, everyone is very motivated. We are working hard to make sure we are prepared when we run out on Gray Field on August 30th.
This season is much different than last year. Making the transition from the jayvee team to varsity is important to a lot of guys on our team.
There is a lot more responsibility. Varsity game speed is much faster than it was last year in jayvees.
We have also made some changes on defense that are an adjustment for us.
The transition defensively wasn’t too tough for me. I didn’t play much varsity last year, so this defense is what I was taught. I am not having to learn a new defense like a lot of the guys who played varsity last year. It is a good defense and takes advantage of the speed we have on our team.
Offensively, I doubt I will make a lot of headlines as the fullback.
The goal offensively is to make all our blocks. I don’t expect to run the ball much. I hope to help open holes for Ben Gummo and Brice Mertiff. I just want to help our team do whatever we need to do to win.
I feel it brought the team through the buddy system is much closer together. We are 110 percent closer as a team than we were at this time last year.
This year my goals are to play to my potential, do everything I can to help the team and hopefully we will have a good season for Randy and his family.
