A chilly rain did not hamper 228 walkers from coming out to Lakemont Park and the Blair County Ballpark Sunday for the 11th annual American Heart Walk.
Walkers who were present for the event raised $23,407.
According to Blair County division officials, funds are still outstanding from those walkers who were unable to attend.
Bon Secours-Holy Family Hospital received first place awards for the company having the most walkers and the company raising the most money. Fickes family and friends won second place awards.
Landon Fickes, the 2002 poster child for the Blair County walk, won first place for the individual raising the most money. Second and third place awards went to Chelsea Wilt and Melissa Wertz.
This year’s event was lead by Josh Hodell and Amy Mearkle of WTAJ-TV 10, state Rep. Rick Geist, Landon Fickes and Margie Navarro, American Heart Walk spokespersons.
The 2002 Blair County American Heart Walk was sponsored by WTAJ-TV 10, WPRR Radio, Bon Secours-Holy Family Hospital, the Altoona Chapter of Credit Unions, M&T Bank and Cardiology Associates of Altoona.
