Awana announcement
Northwood Baptist Chapel invites all children in preschool through sixth grade to the opening night of Awana scheduled from 6:30-7:45 p.m. on Nov. 6. Awana is one of the largest non-denominational children’s and youth ministries in the world.

OctoberFest
Warrior’s Mark United Methodist Church, located at 1840 Centre Line Road in Warrior’s Mark, has scheduled OctoberFest activities for Saturday, Oct. 26 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The event will feature homemade apple butter, craft tables, children’s’ activities and a bake sale.
Lunch will be available at 11 a.m.

Red Ribbon
The Tyrone Chamber of Commerce is now distributing red ribbons for the annual Red Ribbon Campaign to promote drug prevention awareness. The ribbons are free of charge and can be acquired at the Chamber building located on Logan Avenue, or at any Chamber member business.

Celebration Dance
The Bellwood-Antis Summer Celebration Committee will hold a dance November 15 at the Bellwood Eagles. The Fabulous Flashbacks will be performing. Tickets will go fast. Stop by the Bellwood Eagles or call 742-8571 for more information.

Shirt sale
The Bald Eagle Volunteer Fire Company is selling T-shirts and sweatshirts. The sale runs through November. Shirts are available in S, M, L, XL, XXL and XXXL. Find out more by calling 684-3779.

YMCA Programming
The Tyrone YMCA holds several fitness programs throughout the week. Active Older Adults exercise program takes place Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Slim and Trim exercise program is Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Tyrone YMCA.
Cardio Kickboxing takes place Mondays and Thursdays at the First Presbyterian Church from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
Water Aerobics takes place at the High School Pool Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Soup sale
The Water Street Evangelical Church is having a Soup and Bake sale October 16. You have your choice of Ham and Bean or Vegetable bean soup along with a variety of baked goods.
The sale runs from 12 noon until everything is gone.

Altoona A.M. Aglow International
The regular meeting of the Altoona A.M. Aglow International will be held on Wednesday, October 16 at 9:30 a.m. at Dick Barr’s Place, in the Juniata area of Altoona, on Woomer Road, off Wopsononock Avenue.
Guest speaker will be Rev. Gerie Martin, the founder of Loaves United States.
Aglow meetings are open to all interested persons.

Revival at God’s Missionary Church
There will be a revival at God’s Missionary Church of Alexandria from Sunday, October 20 until Sunday, October 27. It is at 7 p.m. weeknights and on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Spooktober Haunts
The Blair County Historical Society presents Halloween events for the month of October. Saturday, October 19 is Ghostly Observations at Royer Mansion, Williamsburg from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. with tours every half- hour. Friday and Saturday, October 25 and 26 is Fright Nights at Royer, Williamsburg from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. Not recommended for younger children. Wednesday, October 30 is the Mishler Ghost Tour at the Mishler Theater, Altoona at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, October 31 is All Hallow’s Eve at Baker Mansion from 7 p.m. until 1 a.m.? Paid reservation only. Limited to first 50 people. Reservations by Friday, October 18.

Fall Clean Up
There will be a fall clean-up in Antis Township for leaf pick-up.
The schedule is Friday, October 18 in Bellwood area.
These dates could change because the leaves may come down earlier.

Joshua House
The Joshua House is holding a rummage/bake sale Thursday, October 17 through Saturday, October 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at 1041 Blair Avenue behind the Herald building in downtown Tyrone.
There will be clothing, household items, furniture, baked goods, hot dogs & kraut.
Joshua House is collecting items in the storeroom behind the Herald office. Please call Nancy Kilmartin at 684-3521 for drop-off times.
All proceeds benefit many kids of Tyrone and surrounding areas.
