The Flag is flying, the wall is built and the plaque is placed, and after a little landscaping the project will be complete! This project has been under construction for 10 weeks and in the planning since November 2006. This will complete the Eagle Scout requirements for Vincent Gray and give the Neptune Fire Hall and the community a reflection area dedicated in memory of former chief Ray Stringer and all fallen firefighters. An Eagle Scout project requires the scout to plan a project, to obtain permission to do the project from those involved and have the project approved by the BSA. They are then required to manage the project from start to finish including purchasing, managing help, documentation and funding to completion. Vince will appear in front of the board again for final approval of the project and then it will be submitted nationally for approval. He would like to thank a couple area business owners that have helped him with the project: Mr. Matt Ray, owner of Ray’s Burial Vault, Mr. Pat Cushion, owner of Cushion’s Custom Masonry, Mr. Dick Stever, owner of Mayes Memorials and Mr. Glen Ray, owner of G&R Excavating. All of these business owners took time and resources that disrupted their daily business with no return to help with the project. He would like to also thank all of the community members that have sent donations. Donations or questions concerning the project can be mailed to: Vincent Gray, RD 3 Box 413 Tyrone, Pa. 16686 or phone 684-2769. (Courtesy photo)
