The 2003 Tyrone majorette squads have started their season off with a bang.
Both squads have competed in four competitions so far, traveling to Waynesboro, Greencastle-Antrim, Big Springs and Chambersburg. Both squads have taken top honors at all of the shows.
All of the girls work hard and practice many hours throughout the week.
The squads will compete at their home show on March 22. They will then head to the championships in Hanover on April 5.
The show March 22 at the high school will by the Tournament Indoor Drill Association: Percussion, Majorette and Colorguard Competitions hosted by TAHS Colorguard and Majorettes. The show begins at 1 p.m. with 35 units competing from Blair, Cambria, Huntingdon, Centre and Clinton counties. Admissions is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and students.
Senior high instructors are Kathy (Harris) Banks, Wendy Ammerman, Christy Black and Carol Riley. Tom Mitchell is the drill designer.
Members of the squad are: Cori Oswalt, Captain Lea Morrissey, Nicole Cartwright, Co-Captain Heather Mattern, Bree Gurekovich, Ashley Noll, Lindsay Johnson, Kristen Gurekovich, Amber Mattern and Apryle Hoover.
This year the squad twirls to “Please Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstoood” by Santa Esmerelda.
Middle school instructors are Melissa Watters, Kristy Jackson and Carol Riley. Barry Melott is the drill designer.
Members of the squad are: Amanda Miller, Ashley Cowher, Ashley Miller, Bethany Anders, Britany Koegler, Mara Caine, Amanda Conrad, Heather Harpster, Amber Miller, Danielle Anders, Brittany Barndt, Andrea Gurekovich, Lisa Carper and Casie Glashouser.
The girls twirl to “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper and “Grow Up” by Simple Plan.
