Mr. Robert S. Vogt, 85, of 819 Franklin Drive, Manheim and formerly of Tyrone and Huntingdon died Monday, July 21, 2003 at 4 p.m. at the Pleasant View Nursing Home of Manheim following an extended illness.
He was born May 31, 1918 in Tyrone, the son of Charles J. and Anna Mary Yinger Vogt and on Oct. 31, 1941 was married at St. Matthew’s Church in Tyrone to Marie G. Aurand, who survives.
Also surviving are 6 children, Diana, wife of James Boettger of Manheim; Robert S. and wife Carol of Manheim; Paul B. and wife Brenda of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Charles J. and wife Wendy of Belleville; Christopher A. of Harrisburg; and Elizabeth Vogt of Huntingdon.
Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a sister, Nancy Detweiler of Berwyn.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Cornelius and Sarah Ann Vogt and by a brother, Charles J., who was killed in action in World War II at the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a member of St. Richard’s Catholic Church of Manheim, the Harrisburg American Legion and Tyrone Lodge No. 212 B.P.O.E. He was graduate of Tyrone High School Class of 1936 and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He owned and operated the R.S. Vogt Company Garment Factory at Allensville from which he retired in 1982. He loved to read.
Funeral mass for Mr. Vogt will be said Thursday, July 24, 2003 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church in Tyrone with Father Joseph T. Orr as celebrant. Contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
