Claude J. (Jack) Watson, 82, of Westmont, died October 29, 2003 at the Laurel Wood Convalescent Care Center. Born March 10, 1921, in Tyrone, the son of the late Claude and Ruth (Gates) Watson. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary Louise (Stare); children, Deborah Clemente of Johnstown and Scott (Stephanie), also of Johnstown; stepchildren, Robin Way of Vermont, and Karen Stasko of Connecticut; grandson, Ryan Clemente, Daniel and Adam Watson; stepchildren, Erin, Shawn, Ashley and Elysia. A sister Ruth McNelis, Tyrone and also nieces and nephews.
Jack was a 1939 graduate of Tyrone High School and attended the University of Omaha on a baseball scholarship. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a bombardier. He founded the Watson Insurance Agency in Westmont in 1945.
An avid golfer and hunter, he also coached Little League and helped build the West Suburban Little League Field. He was a lifetime member of the Sunnehanna County Club.
Internment was private. Donations may be made to the Westmont Hilltop High School Scholarship Fund in Jack Watson’s memory.
