Residents wishing to memorialize a loved one while helping defray costs of the new $650,000 library facility in northern Blair County now have the opportunity to do so.
Yesterday, the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library’s board of directors announced that residents or families can now contribute and sponsor items for the new library.
Chuck Banas, the board’s vice president, said all proceeds from the sale will benefit the library’s building fund.
There are a number of different ways residents can contribute.
Banas said an intriguing possibility is the opportunity to name specific areas of the library or even the library itself.
Costs for this type of contribution are as follows: The entire library building, $250,000; the community/conference room, $30,000; the Tyrone Room (Genealogy and local history), $20,000; work room, $10,000; computer lab, $10,000; director’s office, $5,000; and the corner room (two offices), $3,000.
Memorial plaques will be hung throughout the library bearing names loved ones wish to hold in memory. There are three separate levels of availability: Pace-setter, $5,000; Benefactor, $2,500; and Patron, $1,000.
There are also numerous sponsorship opportunities available. These include: each row of adult shelving, $4,250; each unit of adult shelving, $425; each row of children’s shelving, $3,690; each unit of children’s shelving, $530; each row of periodic shelving, $1,544; each unit of periodical shelving, $386; each row of audio/visual shelving, $2,133; each unit of audio/visual shelving, $720; each row of Tyrone Room shelving, $1,145; and each unit of Tyrone Room shelving, $382.
