The Bellwood-Antis junior high boys basketball team continued their highly successful season with a pair of wins early this week.
On Tuesday, Feb. 10, the Little Blue Devils defeated Juniata Valley (15-3) by a 35-28 score.
Evan Hughes led the B-A junior high with 14 points and Paul Christner added 12 points.
Joe Basil led the Little Hornets with a game-high 15 points.
Then on Wednesday, Feb. 11, the Bellwood-Antis junior high squad continued a season sweep over backyard rival Tyrone 51-35 to improve their season record to 20-1.
Paul Christner fronted the winners with 17 points and Tyler Elvey added 15 points.
Playing their fifth game in seven days, the Eagles gave Bellwood-Antis all they could handle through three quarters, (33-25), but B-A turned in a strong fourth quarter (18-10) to hand the Eagles a 51-35 defeat.
Wade Branstetter scored seven points for the Eagles, and Russ Beck tossed in six. Jamie Levinson, Josh Bradley, and Tyler Hoover all contributed five points.
In the eighth grade game, Bellwood handed Tyrone only their third defeat of the season to go along with a dozen wins, avenging an earlier loss, by a 39-24 count.
Jason Tuskovich led the scoring for Tyrone\’s 8th graders with eight points, while Brandon Gehret added five, and John Harris four.
