The Central PA Wolves varsity hockey team decisioned Central Cambria 4-2 in ice hockey action on Monday night at Galactic Ice.
Central PA scored four of the first five goals to virtually put a lock on the win, which improves the Wolves record to 12-7.
Craig Thompson (Central) put the only goal of the first period in the net for the Wolves, at the 9:25 mark off an assist fron Phillippe St-Arnaud (Bellwood-Antis).
After the Red Devils tied the score in the second period, Thompson came back again unassisted this time, to give Central PA a 2-1 advantage.
The Wolves then scored twice within two and a half minutes midway through the final period to build up a 4-1 lead before Central Cambria added their second goal with just 0:19 left to play.
Central’s Ed Reilley scored the first goal of the stanza on assists from Kevin Perrin (Bedford) and Matt Kennedy (Central) and then Reilley and D. J. Clawson (Tussey Mountain) assisted on a score by Matt Eagleson (Bedford).
Wolves goalie Fred Dorman (Bellwoo-Antis) stopped 16 of 18 shots on goal.
The Wolves remaining schedule before the playoffs begin is Thursday, Feb. 12 against Hollidaysburg at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, against Ligonier Valley at 2 p.m. and Thursday Feb. 26 against Altoona at 6:50 p.m. All three games are at Galactic Ice and the Wolves are the home team in all three.
