Despite the President’s Day holiday, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Bureau of Elections in Harrisburg was open today – – and very busy. With just one day until the deadline, candidates for a variety of offices were lined up at the Bureau, filing nomination petitions. Officials of the DelGrosso For Congress Campaign arrived early this morning in Harrisburg and handed over almost 3,000 signatures. The required number to gain a spot on the ballot for U.S. Congress is 1,000.
Since the nomination petition process began on February 17th, almost 100 DelGrosso For Congress volunteers have been circulating petitions.
“I am delighted to see nearly 3,000 signatures collected by so many dedicated volunteers,” said DelGrosso, “The weather the past few weeks has been the worst experienced in decades and the fact that these folks did such a great job is overwhelming.”
DelGrosso praised the petitioning process.
“The nomination petitions are one of great things about the way we conduct elections in this country,” he said. “It gives supporters of a candidate a chance to look their friends and neighbors in the eye and ask for their commitment. Our petition circulators have told me that the feedback has been very positive as they’ve circulated my petitions. It shows that our grass-roots level of support continues to grow.”
The next important deadline in the election process is March 29th. That is the last day to register to vote or change party affiliation before the April 27th Primary Election.
