The circus is coming! The circus is coming!
On Sunday, all the way from Mexico, the Esqueda Brothers Circus Extravaganza is coming to the Tyrone National Guard Armory for two shows at 2 and 5 p.m.
Ed Weber, a promoter for the show, stopped by The Daily Herald offices last week to discuss what will be at 926 S. Logan Avenue Sunday afternoon.
“It’s going to be a heckuva good time,” said Weber. “Although we’re small right now, we have plenty of entertainment all lined up for the good people of Tyrone.”
Weber explained the Esqueda family has been in the circus business all their lives. Starting as performers, they eventually branched out on their own to turn their abilities into a traveling show.
He said the circus travels all across the country each year, stopping in small towns such as Tyrone and performing for 500 to 600 people.
“We just really love doing it,” said Weber. “We love to see the smiles on the kids’ faces.”
Best of all parents, if your child is under the age of 14, their ticket is free. Free children’s tickets are available throughout the northern Blair County communities in retail outlets, as well as at The Daily Herald office. Adult tickets are $10 and are available at the door.
Weber said Sunday’s shows will be about 90 minutes in length. The show will include aerialists, daredevils, a ninja snake charmer, dogs, acrobats, clowns and more.
“Our show is definitely family oriented,” said Weber. “We’re low on the PETA scale because we don’t exploit animals for entertainment. Instead, we chose to use magic and thrill performances.”
This is the first-ever show of the Esqueda Brothers Family Circus in Tyrone. It will be performing in Altoona on Saturday.
