Tyrone Area YMCA board president Linda Hershey recently gave an update on the annual fund drive, stating the organization is almost half-way to its $36,000 goal.
The fund drive is continuing, and community members are urged to donate to the YMCA when contacted by a campaign volunteer. Other easy ways to donate to the fund drive are for individuals to send a check to the YMCA or to stop by the building to drop off a donation.
“If you haven’t been to the ‘Y’ in awhile, stop in and see the changes,” added Hershey.
Also, board members have scheduled a DelGrosso’s spaghetti dinner on Sunday, April 25 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Tyrone Area High School cafeteria. Take-out will also be available the day of the event.
Proceeds from the dinner will go towards the fund drive. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased at the YMCA or from any board member.
Volunteers are also needed to help serve at the dinner. If anyone is interested in donating a cake or other dessert for the dinner, it would be appreciated as well. Contact the YMCA for more information.
In other YMCA news, the dance held on Friday, April 16 was considered a success, with 93 kids in attendance. At the dance, a king and queen was crowned, and they were Ridge Pass and Brooke Hoover. The king and queen received gift certificates.
Hershey would like to thank the sponsors of the dance, including Pepsi, Meadows Ice Cream, Silverscreen Video, Pizza Hut and Jeano’s. Also, a special thank you goes out to those individuals who supplied refreshments for the evening and to the volunteers who were at the dance.
Hershey also added that another dance will be scheduled before the school year is over.
