Last evening, congressional hopeful Michael DelGrosso ended a 15-county, 36 1/2 hour tour at the Bellwood Fire Hall.
With the fire whistles blowing to note his arrival and numerous supporters waving flags and posters, DelGrosso made a grand entrance into the fire hall with his wife Sherry. They both walked to the podium, where DelGrosso was able to address those in the audience.
The rally was the last stop for DelGrosso as he vowed to end his run for Congress the same way it began, which was to meet voters in all 15 counties of the District during a non-stop tour.
The 36 1/2 hour tour started Tuesday morning in Franklin County as DelGrosso met with factory workers at two locations. A fundraiser in Waynesboro and a visit to an elementary school rounded out the Franklin County portion of the marathon.
DelGrosso said the 36 1/2 hour tour was in the lines of his grass roots campaign.
“I have knocked on 10,000 doors and met countless voters at various events during the past year. During my 36 1/2 hour tour, I will be able to revisit the towns where I have met so many voters during my door-to-door campaign. I am really looking forward to this experience,” DelGrosso said before leaving on the tour.
The sun set on the first day of the 36 1/2 hour tour as DelGrosso passed through Huntingdon County. The overnight hours were spent in Fulton and Bedford counties.
Wednesday included stops in Fayette, Somerset, Westmoreland, Indiana, Cambria and Clearfield counties.
“It will be nice to wrap-up the 36 1/2 hour tour close to my Tipton home. I expect to see a lot of family, friends and supporters at the rally,” DelGrosso said before the tour.
His wish was granted at the grand finale rally at the Bellwood Fire Hall, which started at 5:30 p.m. Countless supporters attended the rally, waving pictures of DelGrosso and American flags.
Speakers that preceded DelGrosso at the rally included Tyrone Area School District senior and DelGrosso campaign volunteer, Cody Jones.
Former Secretary of Agriculture and honorary campaign chairman, Sam Hayes also spoke at the rally and introduced DelGrosso when he arrived.
