Carroll Osgood, M.D., Board Certified Neurosurgeon, is pleased to announce the opening of an office in Tyrone.
The office is located on the campus of Tyrone Hospital at 3 Hospital Drive.
Dr. Osgood is a seasoned medical professional, with more than 35 years of experience as a neurosurgeon. He first established a practice in Blair County in 1979. He has been a member of the Tyrone Hospital medical staff since 1980.
The Tyrone location offers patients another option for initial and post surgical follow-up appointments. Patients who require surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome, outpatient back surgery for herniated discs, and other outpatient neurological surgeries may have these procedures at Tyrone Hospital.
Dr. Osgood is a graduate of the Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia. He completed residencies in general surgery and neurosurgery at Emory University Hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia. He also completed a research fellowship in microsurgery and an American Cancer Society clinical fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Osgood was the recipient of the Simonton Prize for Resident Research at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Osgood\’s clinical experience includes service in the United States military. He served as a captain in the United States Army. He is also a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Army Reserves. He was also Acting Chief of Neurosurgery at the Pittsburgh Veteran Administration Hospital from 1972 to 1975.
Dr. Osgood practiced in the Pittsburgh area prior to relocating to Blair County. While in Pittsburgh, Dr. Osgood was affiliated with several Pittsburgh hospitals. He was also a member of the University of Pittsburgh faculty. He was Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery and Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery.
He has also presented scientific papers at numerous professionals meetings and conferences.
During his career, Dr. Osgood has published numerous articles addressing neurosurgery topics that have appeared in professional publications including the Journal of Neurosurgery, Medical Journal of Georgia, Surgical Neurology, Journal of Trauma, Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry, the Journal of the Maine Medical Association, and others.
His professional memberships include the Blair County Medical Association, Pennsylvania Medical Association, American Association of Neurological Surgery, American Medical Association, and the Society of Vascular Technology.
