An ‘Animal Run,’ 5K and two-mile walk is scheduled for Saturday, July 24 at 8 a.m. at the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona.
The run will benefit the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, Monica’s Greyhound Adoption, Aid for Animals and Laws for Paws.
Start and finish for the race is located at the Jaffa Mosque on Broad Avenue. Runners will go out onto Broad Avenue to 40th Street and return on Beale Avenue. Walkers will go onto Waterloo Road and return on Beale Avenue.
Entries will be accepted until 7:30 a.m. on the race day, with a $20 registration fee. Participants and volunteers receive a T-shirt printed by E & E Logos and RC’s Print Specialists.
Race packets may be picked up at the Jaffa Mosque on Friday, July 23 from 6-8 p.m. Packets may be picked up on the race day inside the Jaffa Mosque, beginning at 6:30 a.m.
Awards will be given to the top three male and female overall winners and to the top three male and females in each age group for the 5K only. There will be no awards given for the walk, since it is non-competitive.
The Humane Society asks participants and spectators alike to bring dog and cat food donations to the race. The donations will be collected at the registration table.
