Practice went really well on Friday. It wasn’t one of our normal practices, it was a little easier. W e just had a walk-through where we went through a lot of our plays to patch things up for tomorrow’s scrimmage and give our legs a little rest.
We are definitely treating the first scrimmage like a game. We just want to see how everyone attacks the ball. We want to see how everybody gets to the ball and hits.
We’ve had to come in a couple times because of lightening, but regardless we get all of our work in whether we have to go up to the gym or not. The mornings have been cool and more comfortable because of the rain.
Its a lot different going from being a junior to being a senior. You have a leadership role and try to work hard to set an example for the sophomores. You try to go all out on every play and in each one of the drills.
Mostly Ben Gummo, Terry Tate, Tad Chamberlain have been taking big roles as leaders, Ronnie Miller, but he’s been absent because of his injury, Ralph has been taking a big role. I try to take a big leadership. I try to set an example for the younger kids and get everybody up before games and before practice.
I hope that this year we can take what we did last year (win the districts and play in the PIAA state playoffs) and keep going further, at least one step further, if not all the way to another state championship.
The Bellwood game means a lot to me this year, because we haven’t beat Bellwood at home since 1998 and I thing we need to get that back. Plus since this is our senior year, this will be the Bellwood game we remember the most. For now, we remember our junior year, but after this, it will be our senior year we remember the most.
