Congressman Shuster employee caught spying in Tipton neighborhood – A member of Bill Shuster’s staff engaged in “spying” on the congressman’s opponent in the 2004 primary, caused much concern for residents of a Tipton area neighborhood where Michael DelGrosso is a resident. One resident said she and other neighbors had observed a man in a red VW Jetta “lurking in the development.” She said the car was parked in the neighborhood for several days in mid-September and some folks were concerned for their kids.

Nittany Lions hold onto No. 1 ranking – The Big 8 title won’t be the only thing on the line next Saturday when second-ranked Colorado visits No. 3 Nebraska. The winner could become No. 1 in the Associated Press college football poll and gain the inside track to the national championship. Top-ranked Penn State leads Colorado by four points and Nebraska by 25 in this week’s media poll.
Twenty-five years ago, October 25, 1979
Restaurant damaged – Smoke poured from the Coachlight Restaurant as fire early today destroyed the kitchen at the eating establishment in Snyder Township, about three miles north of Tyrone. No injuries resulted from the blaze and fire officials reported the building was not a total loss. Four area fire companies extinguished the blaze in about an hour.
Fifty years ago, October 25, 1954
Tyrone Lodge, Women of the Moose, instituted yesterday – The newly instituted Lodge No. 1397, Women of the Moose installed its officers yesterday in a formal ceremony at the lodge rooms of Tyrone Lodge No. 25, Loyal Order of the Moose. Attending were Mrs. Ardia Dry, graduate regent; Sheldon Sellers, Governor of Tyrone Lodge No. 25, L.O.O.M.; Mrs. Freda Clinger, Lewistown, graduate grand regent; Mrs. Ruth Adams, senior regent of the new organization; Mrs. Isabelle Mack, recorder; Mrs. Ella Galbraith, chaplain; Mrs. Vera Devine, treasurer and Mrs. Jane McConhy, junior regent.
