Area state police reports
A one-vehicle accident caused minor injuries to four people in an early morning accident on Oct. 23 on River Road in Antis Township.
Nineteen-year-old Curtis Ramsey of Tyrone was traveling on the road at 2:20 a.m. and attempted to back up on the roadway. The vehicle left the road and went down the adjacent embankment and entered the river. The vehicle became completely submerged. Ramsey and three passengers were able to escape from the vehicle.
Ramsey was arrested for DUI and numerous summary offenses including driving without a license. Ramsey was committed to Blair County Prison on a probation violation.
Ramsey suffered a minor injury. Three passengers also suffered minor injuries: 22-year-old Robert Reed of Altoona, and two female juveniles. All the occupants were wearing seat belts.

An Altoona man was injured in a one-vehicle accident on State Route 453 near Pemberton in Warriors Mark Township at 5:50 a.m. on Oct. 23.
James Frantz was traveling south on the road when he fell asleep, according to Huntingdon-based state police. Frantz’s vehicle traveled off the road on to the west berm and struck a rocky embankment. The vehicle then rolled onto its roof. It came to rest approximately 500 feet from where it left the road, on its roof.
Frantz was taken to Tyrone Hospital’s emergency room for treatment of a minor injury. Frantz was wearing a seat belt, according to the police release.
AMED and Tyrone, Warriors Mark and Bald Eagle fire companies assisted at the scene.

Police report a hit-and-run accident on State Route 4019, south of Bellwood on Oct. 23 at 7:45 p.m.
The accident happened when a unknown driver in a pickup truck drifted across the yellow center line and sideswiped another pickup truck driven by 54-year-old Joseph Gallo of Lincoln University.
The unknown driver then fled the scene. The make and description of hit-and-run vehicle is not known.

A 21-year-old Altoona man was injured in a one-vehicle DUI-related accident at 2:19 a.m. on Oct. 24 on Bell-Tip Road in Antis Township.
Thomas George Parshall was traveling north on State Route 4021 when his pickup truck left the road and struck a tree. Parshall had to be extricated by the Bellwood Excelsior Fire Company. He was then flown to Altoona Hospital by medical helicopter for treatment.

Two known male juveniles took ATVs from a farm off of Walnut Grove Church Road in Springfield Township in Huntingdon County on Oct. 25 from 4 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
The police release listed the ATVs as belonging to Ronald Lee Anderson of Three Springs and 33-year-old Timothy Lee Anderson of Chambersburg.
The juveniles traveled to the Orbisonia-Rockhill area and then the Tyrone area. They returned to the Rockhill-Orbisonia area on Oct. 26. One of the ATVs was recovered in Orbisonia.
Huntingdon- based state police said the juveniles fled on foot. One of the them was apprehended on Oct. 27 and housed in the Bellefonte juvenile facility. The other was still at large at the time police filed a report last week and charges were pending with Children and Youth Services.

An automobile was taken from Dan Parson’s Used Cars in Snyder Township sometime between Oct. 25 and 26.
Police said an unknown person(s) arrived at the lot and took a red 1194 Chevy Cavalier convertible with a white top. Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact Hollidaysburg state police.

A 31-year-old Tyrone man was involved in a vehicle/train accident on State Route 4027 in Snyder Township. Lester Randall Walters was travelling south on the road approaching a railroad crossing.
He swerved out around another vehicle that was already stopped for a train. Walters’ vehicle hit the moving train. Walters then fled the scene on foot. At the time of their press release, state police said the accident was under further investigation.

A Jennerstown woman was involved in a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 99 in Antis Township at 7:47 p.m. on Oct. 27.
Renee Austin was traveling north in the right lane of the road near exit 45. She drifted into the left lane and while attempting to steer back to the right lane, Austin lost control of her car. The vehicle traveled into the east shoulder area and struck a light pole.
Austin was cited for traveling out of a single lane of travel in an unsafe manner.
