Tyrone Hospital officials have announced that George Berger has joined the hospital as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He will assume responsibility as CFO on January 3.
“We are very pleased to welcome Mr. Berger to the Tyrone Hospital family,” said Walter S. Van Dyke, CEO at Tyrone Hospital. “We think his professional experience and management style will serve Tyrone Hospital and the community very well.”
Berger is a native of Altoona. He is familiar with the local healthcare market. During his career, he has moved up the ranks, holding a variety of financial and accounting positions at local healthcare organizations.
His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from St. Francis University and an Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts from Mount Aloysius College.
Most recently, Berger served as Controller at Nason Hospital. He was previously employed at Bon Secours Holy Family Hospital where he advanced from a position as Staff Accountant to Decision Support Coordinator. He also served as Staff Accountant for Mercy Health Services, Inc.
“I am pleased to have the opportunity to join Tyrone Hospital as I am personally and professionally rooted in this area. In my introduction to the hospital, I could see it was very family-oriented and has the potential to remain a strong community hospital.
“The staff I have met to date have been very professional and seem like a great group of people. I am looking forward to working with them,” said Berger.
Berger currently resides in Altoona with his wife Krista and their three children.
Tyrone Hospital is managed by Quorum Health Resources (QHR), a national healthcare management company.
