The Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, located on Old Route 220 North in the Greenwood/Bellemeade section of Altoona, recently fell victim to theft.
Executive Director of CPHS, Dave Hopkins, told The Daily Herald that he reported to Logan Township police that a large amount of aluminum cans and the storage bins were stolen from the back of the shelter building.
Members of the public donate these cans, and the money raised is used to buy needed supplies for the animals at the shelter.
Hopkins said a neighbor of the shelter said they saw a red pick-up truck at the back of the building around the time of the incident.
Anyone with more information is asked to call the Logan Township Police.
CPHS is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and on Friday from 12:30-7 p.m.
Those interested in adopting an animal are asked to contact 942-5402 or see the CPHS web page at www.altoona.net/cphs.
