The Tyrone boys swim team wasn’t able to get the depth the Eagles usually rely on in the pool, at the Tyrone Area High School on Monday evening, and as a result dropped their second straight meet after nine wins to open the 2004-05 season. Somerset pulled off wins in six of the 11 events and limited Tyrone to just one scorer in four events to post a 96-74 win. Eric Nulton broke his own record in the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:57.07 clocking, and also won the 100 butterfly and was part of the Eagles victorious 200 medley relay along with Brian Pearson, Matt Elder and Chris Closson to lead Tyrone.
Ethan Nulton added wins in the 200 IM and 500 freestyle. Chris Bradigan had seconds in both the 50, and 100 freestyle races and the 200, and 400 freestyle relays. Pearson was second in the 100 backstroke and Zac Yeaton was second in the 100 breastroke.
The Tyrone girls received wins from Paige Black in the 50 freestyle and Kelly Pearson in the 100 freestyle, but points were few and far between in Somerset’s 117-46 win over the Lady Eagles.
The 200 free relay team of Leah Cherry, Zoe Yeaton, Pearson and Black, the 200 medley relay of Cherry, Yeaton, Pearson and Black and the 400 team of Sarah Reitz, Kassie Markle, Ashley McManigal and Amber Davis all finished second. Cherry was second in the 200 freestyle, Yeaton was second in both the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke and Pearson was second in the 100 freestyle.
