The Tyrone junior high wrestling team defeated the Huntingdon junior high 70-20 at Huntingdon on Tuesday night.
Chase Weaver began the festivities by pinning Jared Grove of Huntingdon at the 2:30 mark in the 75-pound weight class and Little Eagles’ teammate A. J. Schopp followed at 80, with a quick fall over Titus Brown in 1:10.
Tyrone extended their lead to 15-0 at 85, when Cody Weaver shut out Nathan Mykut 6-0.
Addison Yingling put Huntingdon on the scoreboard with a 12-0 major decision over Tyrone 90-pounder Ron Smerekar.
That was the only win in the first seven weight classes for the Little Bearcats however.
Doug Rudy kept the points flowing for the Eagles with a 3-1 decision over Jesse Runk at 95. Matt moore picked up a win by forfeit at 100 and Nathan Kruis pinned Mark Smeyers in just 0:41 at 105.
With Tyrone leading 30-4, Huntingdon 110-pounder Jake Myers came through with another victory for the ‘Cats winning a 9-0 major decision over Tyrone’s Josh Miller.
Tyrone and Huntingdon then traded pins at the next two weight classes. Jeremy Barlett pinned Keith Frysinger in 2:00 to increase the Eagles’ advantage to 36-8 at 115, before Huntingdon 122-pounder Jorden Detter pinned the Eagles’ Cody Smith in 2:19.
The Little Eagles came right back with with pins by Shane Emigh over Blake Wilson in 1:12 at 130 and J. P. VanAllman over Alex Laver in 2:21 at 138.
Bryan Bliss upended Tyrone’s Jordan Berry 9-4 at 145, but the Eagles Byron Sullins pinned Jake Reid at 155, in 2:15 and Nick Wilburn majored Matt Johnson 12-0 at 165.
Huntingdon won the final three weight classes to set the final score at 70-20 Tyrone.
Jason Everhart edged Tyrone 185-pounder J. D. Gardner 3-2 and Matt Marter (210) and Andrew Sarra (250) picked up forfeit wins.
