Irene Calhoun, Ph.D. is planning an event for singles 30 and older. It will be held Sunday, April 3 at the Calvin House in Altoona from 2 to 7 p.m.
It will provide an opportunity for singles to meet other singles during programming that will make it easy to get to know other singles while having fun.
Singles are often heard asking “Where do I go to meet someone?” They are tired of going to the bars. They are tired of going places and trying to figure out who is truly single and who isn’t. They are interested in meeting other people who are interested in developing relationships and not in one night stands.
Dr. Calhoun who works with couples and singles in her private practice in Altoona decided to put together an event that will give singles an opportunity to meet other singles. This is a networking opportunity to meet other singles who are interested in meeting to date, to share interests and activities, or just to make new friends. This program is being regionally promoted to bring singles together from a 50 mile radius to meet in person. The program will help make sure that all participants are involved and the activities that are led by Dr. Calhoun will help make it easy and fun to meet new people.
According to National Center for Health Statistics, one fifth of first marriages end within five years and one third end within 10 years. Second marriages end at the rate of 34 percent or higher. It is because of this and because we have few good models for how to create happy stable marriages, that Dr. Calhoun has decided to provide a program that she believes will help singles learn how to choose and how to be good partners. Thus the program is fun but it also has the purpose of helping singles be more successful in new relationships.
Please note that participants must register by March 18. There is a fee for this program.
