The Tyrone Youth Baseball Association has scheduled a Sports Memorabilia and Silent Auction on Saturday, April 23 from 6-9 p.m. at the Bull Penn Banquet Room located at the Tyrone Shopping Center.
Some of the items to be auctioned off include: Richard Petty autographed Cheerios Car, Joe Paterno autographed Wheaties Box (framed), Andy Reid autographed football, Jack Ham autographed football, Jack Wilson autographed baseball, Brian Billick autographed football, Franco Harris autographed mini helmet and four diamond tickets to a Altoona Curve Game, just to name a few.
The proceeds from the auction will benefit Tyrone Youth Baseball Association and will go towards repairing the field from flooding.
“Basically, it’s just for them to raise money to refurbish the field so they have a place to play,” added auction chairman, Mike Blaska.
He added the field is playable, but the renovations are not completely finished yet.
“We just want people to come out for a fun-filled evening and raise money for a worthy cause.”
At the auction, there will be free finger foods provided. Beverages will need to be purchased.
Approximately 30 to 40 items are scheduled to be auctioned off.
Other items include: autographed Pittsburgh jersey from Doug Roseberry, two Pittsburgh helmets by Tyler Palko and Dave Wannstedt, Franco Harris mini helmet, Lydell Mitchell mini helmet, baseballs by Oliver Perez and Rob Mackowiak from the Pittsburgh Pirates, collector’s set of Richard Petty cereal boxes and Nascar Coca Cola bobblehead collector’s set.
