The members of the Tyrone Area Middle School bands will present their spring concert tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
The concert will feature the talents of the sixth grade band, middle school jazz band and the seventh and eighth grade band.
Admission to the concert is $1, and the doors will be open at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
Also, on Thursday, May 5, the students of the Tyrone jazz and concert bands will take the stage for the final concert of the year at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
“This concert is sure to be entertaining as the Tyrone jazz bands kick it all off with their lively renditions of America’s music, jazz,” said band director, Kris Laird.
Selections will include swing, funk, Latin and rock standards by Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Blood Sweat and Tears and more.
The concert will continue with the high school concert band performing works by Frank Ticheli, David Holsinger, Ralph Vaughan Williams and John Phillip Sousa.
The senior Class of 2005 will be honored and recognized with the annual presentation of the Senior High Band Awards, honoring the band’s strongest musicians, leaders, performers and academic students.
The doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students/children.
“We look forward to having the opportunity to perform for the members of our supportive community of Tyrone,” added Laird.
