The Blotter

Jun 17, 2005

A two-vehicle accident caused multiple problems on State Route 220, approximately two-tenths of a mile north of T-523, in Snyder Township on June 7 at 9:10 a.m.
A tractor-trailer operated by 39-year-old Su Hun Kim of Carlisle was southbound on the road, when the driver apparently fell asleep. The truck drifted across the centerline into the northbound lane and side swiped a tractor-trailer operated by 51-year-old Lawrence J. Kozak of Lilly.
After hitting Kozak’s truck, Kim’s truck continued to travel north crossing over the northbound lane of travel. The truck then left the road and traveled through a yard and struck a house owned by Morris Reese of RR 3, Tyrone.
When the truck hit the house, Kim was entrapped in the vehicle. Bald Eagle Volunteer Fire Department and AMED personnel extricated him. Kim was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. He was transported from the scene to Tyrone Hospital by AMED. The other truck driver was also wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
There were two female juveniles in the house when the truck crashed into it. The girls were not injured, according to the state police release on the incident.
Kim’s truck had severe damage while Kozak’s tractor-trailer had moderate damage. No damage estimate was given regarding the Reese property.
Tyrone Fire Police also assisted state police.

A 17-year-old Tyrone driver suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident on Back Vail Road on June 7 at 7:44 p.m.
Jesse D. Templeton was traveling south on the road and lost control of his vehicle when his right front tire blew out after negotiating a left curve on the road. His pick-up truck struck the guide rails along the northbound berm and then traveled down a large embankment. Police said Templeton’s vehicle had severe damage.

Three motorcycles were involved in an accident on State Route 1008, approximately one mile north of State Route 865 in Antis Township on June 9 at 8:45 p.m.
A motorcycle operated by 20-year-old Joshua Allen Harten was traveling south while the other two motorcycles were parked on the west berm of the road.
Upon approaching the parked motorcycles, Harten lost control of his bike. Police said Harten’s motorcycle went over onto its right side and slid into one of the park motorcycles. That impact caused one of the parked motorcycles to be pushed into the other one.
Harten was wearing a helmet and suffered minor injuries. He refused treatment at the scene.
Bellwood Borough Police, Bellwood’s Excelsior Fire Company and Bellwood Ambulance assisted state police at the scene.

State police investigated an accident that happened at the Grazierville interchange of Interstate 99 on June 9 at 10:28 p.m.
Corey Golemboski was traveling north on State Route 1001 when his car struck a concrete divider. His vehicle rolled approximately three times and Golemboski and a passenger, Jamie Rogella, were both ejected.
Golemboski’s vehicle came to rest along the east berm and then caught on fire.
Golemboski and Rogella were not wearing seat belts and both suffered moderate injuries. Police said alcohol was said to be a factor in the collision.
