The rosters have been selected for both the George B. Kelley Federation All-Star team and the Kelley Federation 16-year old team. Both teams will travel to Cumberland, Maryland on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005.
Chris Alley of Martin Oil was the only First Team selection for the two local federation teams, tabbed by the vote of the Kelley Federation managers to start at shortstop. Alley was also one of the six pitchers chosen.
Tyrone Legion catcher Derrick Soellner was the Second Team selection as designated hitter, and Matt Morrissey was chosen as an alternate at second base.
There were three players chosen at each spot in the infield, designated hitter and catcher- first team, second team and alternate. Four outfielders were selected and six pitchers.
Joining the three local players on the traveling All-Star squad are DH: Caleb Johnson-Barkman Oil/Altoona First, Soellner, and alternate Adam Veckov-ReMax; 1B: Alex Sisto-Corporal Miller, Greg Macionsky-Locker Room and alternate Nate Detwiler-Barkman Oil/Altoona First; 2B: A. J. Palazzi-ReMax, Mike Albright-Locker Room, and Morrissey; 3B: Brett Weibley-Locker Room, Garrett Miller-Park Furniture and alternate Brandon Marasco-Hoss’s; SS: a tie for the second spot behind Alley- David Rahoi-Locker Room and Greg Webster-ReMax and C: Jake Settle-McMullen Furniture, Mike Montgomery-ReMax, and alternate Casey Wombacher-Corporal Miller. Outfielders are Scott Zimmerman-Barkman Oil/Altoona First, Jeremy Vogel-Corporal Miller, Adam Kaack, ReMax and Joel Reese-Locker Room. Pitchers selected are Bryan Plummer-McMullen, Jeff Curfman-Barkman Oil/Altoona First, Aaron Harris-Locker Room, Alley, Bruce Diehl-Locker Room and Travis Gibbons-Park Furniture.
Locker Room manager Jim McGough will manage the Kelley Federation All-Star Team.
Both local clubs, Tyrone Legion and Martin Oil used a lot of younger players in their lineups.
Martin Oil’s Blaze Winterstein was picked as the First Team catcher on the 16-year old all-star team. Chad Coho, Martin Oil third baseman was the second team selection and Earnie Kelley was a double pick as an outfielder and pitcher. Martin Oil’s Brian Hostler was selected as an alternate at third base, and Tyrone Legion players Tyler Golden ((ss-p) and Jamie Levinson (inf) were also nominated as alternates.
Other 16-year old picks are DH: Buddy Durbin-Corporal Miller, Matt Wimbush-Hoss’s and alternate Brant Clouser, 1B: Anthony Augustine-Park and Ryan Beasom-McMullen; 2B: Anthony Williams-ReMax, Joey Mummert-ReMax and alternate R. C. Rudy-Dick’s Pharmacy; 3B: Brett Weibley-Locker Room, Coho and Hostler; SS: Tyler Stiffler-Dick’s Pharmacy and Nathan Dick-Barkman Oil/Altoona First; C- Winterstein, Nic Perehinec-ReMax and alternate Tyler McCaulley-Dick’s. Pitchers are Weibley, Beasom, Josh Smith-Corporal Miller, Alex Marchi-Hoss’s, Kelley with Brandon Potts-Corporal Miller, Brent Milliron-ReMax and Shane Gillmen-Dick’s as alternates. Outfielders are Adam Veckov-ReMax, Kelley, Joshua Greenleaf-Barkman Oil/Altoona First, Wes Plummer-McMullen Furniture and Bryant Steinbugl-Sheetz. Other alternates are Jon Yerty (2b-ss)-Sheetz, and Barry Smith (p-of)-Hoss’s.
Directions to Cumberland fairgrounds and the Hammersmith Complex,:
From Altoona, take Rt. 220 South for about 70 miles. As you near Cumberland, look for the green overhead sign saying exit 68 West, 220 South. Exit and follow this route for 4.6 miles. This will take you through Cumberland on the crosstown Bridge. As you go up the hill out of Cumberland, look for another green overhead sign saying Exit 42, 220 South, McCoole Keyser. Take this exit to the stop light. Go left to fairgrounds-still on Rt. 220 for 2.7 miles. Go to SHOOTER’S Bar-south side. Turn left onto Moss Avenue for .4 miles. Cross tracks and turn left. You are there.
If you pass a gas station or get to the prisons, you missed your turn onto Moss Avenue. Just before you pass Shooters, there will be a TATOO sign on left. Don’t confuse this with a tatoo sign on the right you passed earlier.
